Canada Summer Jobs Position: Operations Officer, Administration

Full-time, Contract, Onsite

$18.60 per hour, 35 hrs/week
Start date: May 4, 2026 for eight weeks

This position is thanks to support from Employment and Social Development Canada - Canada Summer Jobs program. Participants will also be encouraged to complete a questionnaire to report on their experience with the Canada Summer Jobs program. As per requirements of this grant, the successful candidate must:


  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
  • Be either Canadian, Permanent Resident or Refugee. International students and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program.
  • Have a valid SIN.
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

What will you be doing as the Operations Officer, Administration?
The Operations Officer, Administration will provide support to the Operations team. They play a vital role in creating systems and procedures, and streamlining processes. 

Based on the nature of this role, the Operations Officer may need to work weekends and evenings outside of regular work hours to support events planned throughout May and June. 

All Pride Toronto Summer Students must be available to work Pride Festival Weekend (June 25-28). Pride Festival Weekend is full of performances, art and parades celebrating the 2SLGBTQI+ communities. No matter their role, all members of the Pride Toronto team support the Pride Festival through various operational and programming tasks that ensure the events are safe, fun, and memorable. 

Other responsibilities include:
Administrative Support

  • Assist with general office duties including filing, data entry, organizing digital and physical documents, and maintaining shared folders.
  • Support the preparation of internal documents, meeting notes, reports, and operational updates.
  • Maintain inventories of supplies, equipment, branded materials, radios, and administrative tools needed for Pride Month. Assist with managing incoming communications, redirecting inquiries, and providing information to staff and partners where appropriate.
Operations & Logistics Coordination

  • Support the Operations Team with planning and preparing festival logistics, including equipment lists, schedules, supply orders, and event checklists.
  • Help coordinate the distribution and return of radios, TipTap devices, signage, tents, credentials, volunteer shirts, and festival materials.
  • Assist with vendor coordination by tracking orders, receiving deliveries, organizing storage, and checking for accuracy of received goods. 
  • Support the setup and teardown logistics for festival zones including community spaces, administrative hubs, and event activity areas.
Volunteer & Staff Support

  • Assist with preparing volunteer packages, sign-in sheets, safety guidelines, and required administrative materials.
  • Support onsite volunteer coordination by helping with check-in, distributing materials, and providing operational guidance.
  • Assist staff with printing, scheduling support documents, and creating operational binders.
Records Management & Tracking

  • Help maintain accurate databases and spreadsheets related to inventory, equipment assignments, vendor contacts, and operational needs.
  • Conduct equipment counts, record missing or damaged items, and update digital logs.
  • Assist with documentation required for grant reporting, post-event summaries, and operational reviews.
Onsite Festival Operations (Pride Month)

  • Provide general administrative and operational support on festival days, including organizing paperwork, managing supply kits, and assisting team leads. 
  • Help troubleshoot minor onsite issues by assisting teams with directions, supplies, and communication.
  • Support accessibility, safety, and customer-service efforts to ensure a smooth visitor experience.
Health, Safety & Accessibility Support

  • Assist in preparing safety documentation such as incident forms, emergency plans, and accessibility maps.
  • Ensure operational setups follow Pride Toronto’s accessibility and safety standards.
  • Help distribute first-aid kits, signage, and safety materials to event zones.

What are we looking for?
Qualifications and skills required of the role.

  • Candidates must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Highly organized and experienced with MS Office, G-Suite platform and other online tools
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of the 2SLGBTQI+ community
  • Demonstrated administrative background
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • This position requires you to work from our office Mondays to Fridays between 9:00am-5:00pm. 
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for meetings and events (lieu time provided to be provided for hours worked)
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including occasional heavy lifting (up to 25 lbs), may be required to support on-site event production needs. The ideal candidate is hands-on and adaptable, willing to assist with logistical tasks to ensure seamless event execution 

Nice to haves: 

  • Experience working at a festival or nonprofit organization
  • Exceptional strategic thinking abilities and experience in successfully overseeing complex projects 
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities 
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in a group setting 
  • G-class drivers license
